Why This Role Exists

UEV is actively building a connective tissue across the fragmented startup communities of the region—through partnerships, events, publications, and more. And we’re doing it with a focus on B2B SaaS in a region historically dominated by healthcare, biotech, and real estate.

The CMO in Residence will drive our community and brand-building efforts while giving founders and in-studio ventures the messaging, positioning, and GTM support they need to launch with confidence. We know most pre-seed founders don’t have time to figure out marketing on the fly. This role is designed to give them a massive head start.

If you’re a strategist-operator hybrid with a knack for storytelling and a drive to shape early-stage growth engines, this role might be your sweet spot.

The CMO in Residence Role

This is a high-leverage, high-context role. You’ll be the architect behind UEV’s brand voice, the guide for early founder marketing strategy, and the bridge that connects our studio to the broader ecosystem.

You’ll work directly with:

  • Founders across our studio portfolio
  • UEV leadership and operations
  • External PR and design vendors
  • Community partners and event organizers

You’ll help craft narratives, align positioning, activate communities, and ensure our ventures go to market with a clear, confident message.

What You'll Do

  • Lead marketing, messaging, and community-building efforts for UEV itself
  • Support in-studio venture and portfolio startup teams with early GTM strategy and launch planning
  • Craft founder-facing resources: GTM playbooks, positioning templates, messaging docs, brand guidelines, etc.
  • Coordinate with PR partners to manage media outreach, event publicity, and brand awareness
  • Advise on brand and content strategy for studio-born startups
  • Jump in where needed to write copy, build landing pages, manage email campaigns, or test paid channels
  • Organize and run in-person and virtual events that support community building, founder engagement, and studio visibility (e.g., events, panels, local collaborations, pitch competitions, hack-a-thons, conferences, etc.)
  • Help shape UEV’s voice and presence across owned and social media

Who You Are

  • A former CMO, head of marketing, or full-stack brand strategist with startup experience
  • Fluent in B2B SaaS, with a sharp sense of how to communicate early-stage products and platforms
  • Deeply comfortable with ambiguity—able to bring clarity where little exists
  • A natural storyteller who knows how to turn product potential into compelling positioning
  • Skilled at translating complex or technical concepts into clear, engaging, and accessible narratives that resonate with diverse audiences
  • Community-minded: energized by building relationships, hosting events, and elevating others
  • Just as capable of rolling up your sleeves on copy or campaigns as you are crafting big-picture narratives
  • Comfortable working across multiple companies, products, or founders at once
  • Up to speed on how AI is changing the marketing landscape (no need to be a technical expert)
